This DVD-ROM produced by Source of Knowledge, has the following system requirements: COMPUTER: Intel Pentium III or equivalent processor Windows XP/Vista 128MB of RAM (256MB recommended) 110MB of available hard-disk space Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or 7.0, Firefox 1.5 or 2.0, Mozilla 1.7, AOL 9 SOFTWARE: Adobe Reader 8.0 or later QuickTime 7.0 or later If you do not have these software programs, the installation programs are included for Adobe Reader 8 and QuickTime 7. GETTING STARTED: The disc should automatically launch with instructions on the installation of the required software, if you already have the required software you can continue on to the Table of Contents. If however if it does not launch... Under your "My Computer" icon double click on the DVD-ROM drive which is displaying this disc. At the Installations stage, you will be given the option of installing the required programs. IF YOU NEED TO INSTALL ADOBE READER 8, do the following: Quit any version of Adobe Reader you are currently using first. Then right click on the DVD-ROM icon and select Explore. Open the PC_Reader folder on this disc and find the AdbeRdr80.exe file. Click the file to launch the installation and follow the onscreen instructions. Once the installation is complete, launch Adobe Reader 8 by double clicking the icon within the applications folder. Finally, open the file on the disc titled, main.pdf (within the main folder) and proceed to the Table of Contents. IF YOU NEED TO INSTALL QUICKTIME 7, do the following: Quit any version of Quicktime you are currently using first. Then right click on the DVD-ROM icon and select Explore. Open the Quicktime folder on this disc and find the QuickTimeFull.exe file. Click the file to launch the installation and follow the onscreen instructions. NOTE: Immediately following the installation of the files and creating the shortcuts program group, the QuickTime Setup Assistant will open in a window on top of the just completed installation. Click "Next", then "Next" again unless you are an advanced user who needs to modify some of the MIME settings. We ask you not change these unless you feel confident in doing so. Immediately after clicking "Next" on the page asking if you want to modify your MIME settings, you will be presented with a window about assigning File Types to the QuickTime application. If QuickTime is not associated with Macintosh file types (*.mov), the links to the multimedia content inside the Adobe PDF's will not work. The other associations further integrate the QuickTime application open picture types. Once the installation is complete, Quicktime will automatically launch when necessary. ********************************************************************************** ADDING MP3 FILES TO YOUR MUSIC PLAYER: These are instructions for importing audio files from the disc into your computer's music player. 1. Find the icon for "My Computer" located on your computer's desktop or in your "Start" menu. With the "My Computer" window open, find the disc icon labeled with the conference title. 2. Right-click the disc icon labeled with the conference title and select the "Explore" option. 3. Locate and double-click on the "Audio" folder. Copy the mp3 files to your desktop. To open the files in your computer's audio player, follow the application's instructions for importing mp3 files. ********************************************************************************** AUDIO CD CREATION INSTRUCTIONS: REQUIREMENTS: -CD Burner -Windows XP or Roxio Easy CD Creator -Blank 80-minute CD-R's SELECTING AND COPYING THE APPROPRIATE mp3 FILES * First you will need to determine which sessions you wish to convert. To do this, browse through the table of contents located on the CD-ROM and note the session numbers adjacent to the session titles you wish to burn. * Next, you will need to find the mp3 files of the sessions you wish to burn. To do this, find the icon for "My Computer" located on your computer's desktop or in your "Start" menu. With the "My Computer" window open, find the CD icon labeled with the conference title. Right-click the CD icon labeled with the conference title and select the "Explore" option. In the window that appears, locate and double-click on the "Audio" folder. This should reveal a series of folders labeled by session number. Double-click the folder of the session you want to convert. Inside the folder will be a .mov file and one or more mp3 files. Copy the mp3 files to your desktop. * Finally, follow the instructions for burning Audio CD's in Windows XP or Using Easy CD Creator. CREATING AUDIO CD's IN WINDOWS XP: * You will need to burn the mp3 files onto a blank CD-R in audio format. To do this, insert a blank 80-minute CD-R into your CD burner. Select the mp3 files you wish to burn. Right-click the selected files and choose the "Copy to Audio CD" option. This will open Windows Media Player which will list the various files to be copied. (Note: if all the files you wish to convert are not listed, simply right-click the unlisted files on your desktop and select the "Copy to Audio CD" option.) Windows Media Player will tell you whether or not there is sufficient space on the blank CD-R for the files you have selected under the "Status" column. If certain files will not fit on a blank CD-R simply deselect them by clicking the check box next to file name which will remove the check mark. * Now, click the "Copy Music" button in the upper right-hand corner of the window. This will convert and burn the selected mp3 files to an Audio CD. After the burning is complete if there are files which would not fit onto a single blank CD-R which you would like to burn, deselect the files which have already been burned and select the files which you would like to burn by clicking the appropriate check boxes. After all the files have been burned they may be deleted from you desktop. CREATING AUDIO CD's USING ROXIO EASY CD CREATOR: * You will need to burn the mp3 files onto a blank CD-R in audio format. To do this, insert a blank 80-minute CD-R into your CD burner. Open Roxio Easy CD Creator. (You can find this application via Start-> Programs-> Roxio Easy CD Creator-> Applications-> Easy CD Creator.) An Untitled CD Project should open in Easy CD Creator. Click the "File" menu option and roll-over "New CD Project" and select "Music CD". * Now click the "Select source files" pull-down menu, navigate to your Desktop, located at the top of the pull-down menu. A listing of the files located on your Desktop will appear. Select the various files you wish to convert from the listing and click the "Add" button. At the bottom of the window the Project Size along with the Estimated free time will be displayed. Be sure that the Project Size is less than 80 minutes or Easy CD Creator will not allow you to burn the files. If the Project Size is more than 80 minutes, select the file at the bottom of the project window and click the "Remove" button. Repeat this until the Project Size is less than 80 minutes. Now click the red "Record" button. The "Record CD Setup" window will open and you should click "Start Recording" to begin the burning process. * After the burning is complete if there are files which would not fit onto a single blank CD-R which you would like to burn, Remove the files you have just burned from the project window and Add the files you now wish to burn.
