Hacknip started out as a thing-to-do-when-I'm-bored project during the last few weeks of my freshman year in High School in May 2004. Right on the heels of Radio FreeK America going-off air, and in the midst of several hacker-radio start-ups that were around at the time, it was my way of talking about what I wanted to, and usually having fun in the process. Along the way I picked up friends, made enemies, and met numerous people that influenced me, and ultimately the show itself. It wasn't exactly organized, and I was frequently forgetting my place and actually stopping the show to look for content. The first few shows were recorded on analog magnetic tape due to lack of equipment on my part. This eventually transitioned into a digital setup of some fashion from Episode 4 onward. I was cleaning my room recently and came across the tape from Episode 2. All of the shows were recorded in extremely low bitrate, partially due to the fact that I was running on a really crappy computer at the time, and partially because I was on dial-up internet, and lower bitrate meant lower file size for uploads. Most of the shows were recorded between May of 2004 and the Fall of 2005, with the exception of Episode 16 (Now deemed the final episode), which was recorded in the Late Spring / Early Summer of 2006, during the break between my Junior and Senior years in High School. Episode 16 turned out to be exactly what the title implies - a "clusterf**k". If you've already listened to it, then you know exactly what I mean. No content was really pulled up for it, we were just having fun in a teleconference one night and decided to record it. After some (minor) editing and mixing, you have the result.-- us having fun. Some of those that were involved in the making of the episodes across the years I am no longer in touch with. Of those, some disappeared, "dropped out of the scene", and others just grew apart. I wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours. Although I have had many intentions of restarting the show since Episode 16, I've realized that I wont. To the listeners, I thank you for your patience over the years. It was rough I know. And to the Co-Hosts, I thank you for taking the time to help make this happen. -Coder April 1st, 2008 12:52am (EDT)
