Time to play.... woop hugs and kisses all. * brian is back from class What the heck was that? Dann's dad, mister fix it you know it. fixes it so good it don't come back Heh with XP the first thing I do is take 10 minutes and turn off all the crap and change it to look like Win2k. Webshots ain't that the truth. Had to clean some recently. Mom went looking for a screensaver. Oh boy. Uhhh, you can disable all that wonderful stuff in AD. linc_: You mean they all have admin rights on their local systems? > have to - need them to run some apps.. > not all have admin rights though :-) > secretary can hardly log on :-) You can use runas in win2k and xp I think to run something under different credentials. sorta like sudo I guess. rignes: we're putting perl msi in gpo for global deploy :) > windows just sucks - I want to switch them all to unix so I can control what they can and cant do - definitively. rjbs: Really? What are they going to use it for? stuff we have a lot of little tools written in perl now most by calvin or mosteen Nice. but I've got rod hacking in perl, too. I thought mosteen left iqe? he did but his tools remain snownews is good they are powerful Oh. ;) How things for IQE? Still crappy or things turning up? a few good prospects. apart from that, crappy. *shrugs* Just curious if my handfull of underwater IQE stocks may be worth something one day. :P what's their depth? Somewhere near the core of the planet I think. Not 100% sure. Actually, technically, they aren't even underwater cuz I didn't pay for them. Not even sure just how many I have, all I know is that I have /some/. It's not confusing, they just don't want to share. Cuz companies are greedy bastards. And you don't even have to use the GPL umm, the fsf would disagree with you on that. that's what the lgpl is for. I think if it's under GPL part of the GPL is that you must release your changes and stuff under GPL. that's why qt is not available for closed-source programs. (under the gpl, that is) what's not confusing? The GPL did I miss a line about the GPL somewhere? Nah, we just started talking about the GPL cuz they mentioned it on the show. ah *** IRCMonkey (~chatzilla@82-68-112-86.dsl.in-addr.zen.co.uk) has joined channel #techshow Give away the hammer, but sell classes on how to use it. what is the policy on linking to gpl libraries? The GPL is very simple. according to the fsf, the linkee must be gpl. If you distribute binaries of software under the GPL, you must make the source available. yes, the gpl is very simple, but isn't there a way to link to gpl libraries but your app does not have to be gpl. err, the program linked with the library dann: not according to the fsf. Yes, if you link dynamically. i'll get you the fsf view in a sec. that's what I thought, dynamic linking does not require you to release your source code. Ummm, their entire past is nasty. Nothing new here. http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#LinkingWithGPL That doesn't address dynamic linking. see this instead: http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#WindowsRuntimeAndGPL actually, that's not specific enough. read that. "because that run-time library normally accompanies the compiler or interpreter you are using" http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#TOCGPLPluginsInNF that should be definitive. If they get their way, the hardware will be secured as well Huh. I lost ops. hybrid-- Who as the $$$ to call them on it? rignes: To call whom on what? Listening to the show? no * rjbs wishes we had #lvlug and #techshow Talking RIAA sueing people. Well, it's easier to sue the crap outa little girls then anyone who is capable of fighting back. Bully tactics *** Mode change "+o rjbs" on channel #techshow by dann * DaleMN HATES THE RIAA :\ rjbs: Why don't we have two channels? We do now! they really need to get there priorities straight :D the question might be, how many people on this channel are lvlug members? It's just jarring to have no idea wtf is going on during the show, is all.;) not i I kind of assumed you were listening. prior to the techshow no one from the lug really used the irc. then the techshow revived the irc which was followed by rjbs saying why isn't anyone on here the rest of the week. hence the revival of the irc all together, but I am not sure there is much lug participation, which stinks. dann: The RIAA rapes everyone for the music. They don't want you to buy a single because they can't charge as much for it. rignes, that is linc and allan battling it out over here. Hehe oops. ;) s/dann/linc But that will never stop them from saying it. let RIAA come here they will fing a shotgun loaded and waiting Download an mp3 and the RIAA Police toss teargas bombs through your window. But I don't have to worry about them anyway very few CDs Have to shoot the letter. They send them in bulk. "Come out with your hand and the mp3's above your head!" How much money is enough? Rignes what mp3s :) Hehe Ok the oggs then same as above I listen to computer / tech shows 139 for a 256 meg with an fm tuner or 145 for a 1.5 gig rio at wal-mart have an extencive list (140+ shows during the week) Wow, thats a hell of a lot of shows. Thanks for listening.
