I got the info for you. > cool! two boot disks the first seems to be a bit more popular, (although both of these are really difficult to find) http://btmgr.webframe.org/ does more then just boot from a cdrom, it allows selected booting now if that doesn't seem to want to boot from your cdrom, try this next one which seems to be lower level. http://bootcd.narod.ru/index_e.htm Bootable CD Loader v1.50Z unzip bcdl150z.zip and there is a boot floppy image to rawrite or dd to disk. these things are soo great for the many old boxs I've come across that don't support booting cdrom via the bios. SLACKWARE RULES!~ > Once you go slack, you never go back! well I tried slack, but I decided I like package-based distros better. do I count? :) init2null if you try slackware again there is a really well maintained swaret package tool that makes it easy to install packages. linc how I do skype into the show later? whats the skype name? > thelinuxlinktechshow cool Citadel: isn't it more like a managed tarball installer than a real packaging system? *** Signoff: mr-potter (Ping timeout: 244 seconds) yea > TS#62 in 5..4..3..2.....aw heck - in a minute... thelinuxlinktechshow was added to your Contacts, even though the Skype Name was not found *** michele (~michele@pool-151-197-54-37.phil.east.verizon.net) has joined channel #techshow hmmmmmm > cant skype us yet, we arent connected. *** pablo7 (~chatzilla@adsl-61-31-159.asm.bellsouth.net) has joined channel #techshow *** Andrew (~Andrew@alb-24-195-56-107.nycap.rr.com) has joined channel #techshow hmmmmmm so that means when I search it only searchs for online users. interesting. *** mr-potter (~robert@82-41-64-120.cable.ubr09.edin.blueyonder.co.uk) has joined channel #techshow yuuuuuuuuuuirzzzzzzxcccccccccvvvvvvbbbnnnnnnmmmm,,,.....aaaaasssssssdddddddddddddddddfffffgggggjl' yeah! *** RoverVAIO (~sorry_n@kwis-clarion-118.kalnet.com) has joined channel #techshow sorry 'bout that, my son is learning to type. Befoer you go buy one, I suggest checking for a supported printer here: http://www.linuxprinting.org/ I've got a HP deskjet 3822, runs sweet under Linux. The Catridges last forever yea linuxprinting is a good site canon is the good company that still allows 3rd party cartrages, and hasn't sued under the DMCA. Epson is nice... i just got a C84 recently... the cartridges are actually ink tanks.. all colors seperate and really cheap Works great with gimp-print Lexmark has a great feature... it says "Printing started... Printing completed." lol, is that really necessary? I can probably guess when it finishes Maybe if it's noisy and you're blind. oh yeah.. thats just the driver software that plays a .wav /topic Crispy-Printing LIVE! hp 5150 CUPS with hpijs rulez!! Cups is best! Well for HP printers Never diss my Cups! ;p heh I love the CUPS Web Based config (http://127.0.0.1:631/) (when you have it installed) DOWN with the web interface! h0h0h0 Use KDE printing myself, Setups it up really easy. I'll have to setup Skype down in Savannah, as my current comp probably is too crappy they have like a top100 audio blogs and stuff. dann: Did the blackout today help with your troubleshooting? Haha what kind of backup software? I've been trying out BackupPC and I like it. anyone in need of a pci express video card? backs up windows and linux boxs via SMB (samba) or rsync http://sourceforge.net/projects/backuppc/ were they just talking about imaging boxes? ibooks I remember if you image a bounch of windows boxs, the one thing you have to change on every single one is the computer name else they all yell about dhcp. I've heard software like norton Ghost might actually change that string in the image somehow automaticly. they have a sysprep utility that you can use which will give the image a unique name, ip, and all that AND YOU RUN OUT OF SPACE! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO after weeks of researching and configuration, testing and finally implementation; about two weeks later we were back to step one as all those systems were borked when in production. k * Citadel brb making a drink there is a norton ghost client which will do that and allow you to make mass changes to workstations imaged with the client installed. The only problem is the cost. Per seat license gets very expensive dann: those ones we ghosted during the summer b0rked? did you use the sysprep utility? *** Signoff: pablo7 (Quit: Chatzilla 0.9.66 [Mozilla rv:1.7.3/20041001]) dann: yea we used ghost images with sysprep that Jo made all I know is that there were a handful of systems that crapped out and then trying to use that image proved problematic thats Jos fault. ;) pass the buck, that is what I like to see. nice try, linc I learn from the best Yeah, she even complained that the utility was crap. Shiver ME timbers ME shivers me.. ok back Citadel you sound fine lol working fine Citadel we can hear you just fine the silence is deafening lol It burns! woohoo A nice Scotch, is what he needs. * RoverVAIO drinks ONLY Tullamore Dew * Exdaix drinks soda i drink water good ol fashioned water *gasp* no linux? * dann drinks soda too * dann and winks a linc dann drinks and eats everything... you should see his desk Maybe thats what happened to the firewire, munch da f it did someone probably tried to organize my area http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/template.php?company=USB&card=Generic&chip=Generic&module=usb-audio you mean cleaned it? ^ ALSA USB Sound Cards *** rignes (~rignes@000D615723FD.msns.sm.ptd.net) has joined channel #techshow cool I'm checking it I got so ill off, thunderbird, I can't even face the bottle without feeling queasy linc use to drink this green kiwi crap we use to call it dragon piss > kiwi lime mad dog 20/20 that be the ticket This is so High Tech its scary ;-) Slicker than snott...What a visual.
